On the trail of time

10 May 2026 to 30 May 2027

This interactive exhibition offers an adventurous journey into the world of time for all children aged three to twelve. But what exactly is time? Why does it sometimes pass more quickly and sometimes more slowly? And is time the same for everyone? In their search for the nature of time, the children discover what time is, step into different roles and professions, and experience the fascination of time first hand. The exhibition features a host of interactive stations where they can try out lots of things and learn even more.

The little town of Anytime

In the little town of Anytime, children aged three to seven meet different characters who present their own time rhythm – from the early-rising baker and the gardener who follows the seasons to the rushing fireman. At 14 interactive stations, the children discover different time concepts and learn that every job has its own rhythm. No reading skills are required; it’s all about learning through play and trying things out.

On the trail of time

In the second section of the exhibition, children aged eight to twelve embark on an adventurous journey through time. A special wristband leads them to five exciting places in time. There they meet experts from the fields of physics, maths, history and biology, who each present their own dimension of time. Through play and interaction, the children set out to uncover the mystery of time.

Each of the two exhibition areas has a different design, so that the children always know where they are. There’s fun and learning in both of them.

“On the trail of time” is an exhibition organised by the Reiss-Engelhorn Museums in Mannheim and the Graz Children’s Museum FRida & freD, made possible by the Klaus Tschira Foundation.
